This story is a great one because it teaches us to never fully scoff at people in need because karma! It was also an episode where we got to discuss the different sleep cycles that we go through during our night sleep. I have always wanted to film myself sleeping, yet I am terrified that I will freak myself out with the weird things that I could do in my sleep.
There is a stage called - Non-REM sleep which is where your eyes are closed, but it is easy to wake you up. The second stage of Non-REM sleep is where you are in light sleep and your heart rate slows and you body temperature drops. Stage three is where it is harder to rouse you up and the body repairs and regrows tissues, builds bone and muscle, and strengthens the immune system.
REM sleep is around 90 minutes after you fall asleep. The first period lasts 10 minutes. Each of your later REM stages gets longer, and the final one may last up to an hour. This is where your heart rate and breathing quickens. You can have intense dreams during REM sleep, since your brain is more active!
